Our innovative platform has two views that students and instructors can flip between easily. The debriefing (out of character) view is an innovative e-reader with embedded gaming mechanics such as a leaderboard, achievement levels, and progress meter to inspire student collaboration and competition in comprehension of the contextual “macro-narrative”; once students have completed a chapter of reading they are then ready to enter the role-playing (in character) view that contains a ground-level “micro narrative” – allowing students to apply, test, and critique what they have read as anonymous characters in a learning community with other students.
